This one covers a bedroom or a small office of 12 to 20 m², and it is the only size in the range that meets its nameplate exactly: 12,000 BTU of rated cooling in T1 conditions. Three to four 330 W panels in series drive it. At 42.5 dB indoors it is the quietest of the three, it pulls 1.3 litres of water an hour out of the air, and the outdoor unit is 33.5 kg net.

18,000 BTU solar air conditioner for a 20 to 30 m² living room or shop
For a living room or a shop of 20 to 30 m². Read the rating carefully: it is sold as 18K, but measured T1 capacity is 17,300 BTU, and that falls to 14,700 BTU in T3 heat, which is the number that counts in a Gulf summer. It runs on three to six 330 W panels, moves 980 cubic metres of air an hour on turbo, and the outdoor unit is 37 kg net.

24,000 BTU solar air conditioner for a 30 to 42 m² room or shop floor
The largest, for an open floor of 30 to 42 m². It is the only one built around a Panasonic compressor, model 5RD198, and the only one that will run refrigerant pipe out to 25 m, which helps when the outdoor unit has to sit up on a roof. Rated T1 cooling is 22,000 BTU and it takes three to eight 330 W panels. Plan the lift, because the outdoor unit is 50 kg net.
